Assignments

If you are enrolled in this course for credit you will have to complete a series of problem sets. These will be posted here in due course.

In addition, you will write a short term paper (≤ 3000 words). A list of topics will be distributed in due course.

If you wish to obtain seminar credit, you will have to write a more substantial term paper (5000-7500 words). You will also give a 30 minute seminar presentation during the course of the semester. We will discuss relevant details in due course.

Problem sets

You should submit your problem sets in PDF format. The filename should be of the form `Yourlastname-yourfirstname.pdf’. The subject line of the email should have the following format:

[Phil 595F] Problem set N,

where N is the number of the reading question you are turning in.

It is your responsibility to submit your assignment in the right format.

Problem sets are due via email by midnight of their due date. Late assignments will not be accepted.

Papers

Term papers are due on December 7. I will be generous with extensions if you contact me well enough in advance. However, late papers will not be accepted. If your paper is not in by the due date, you will get a grade of INC for the course, assuming you are otherwise in good standing.

If you wish to choose your own paper topic, you are welcome to do so as long as you meet with me to discuss your topic by November 19. A list of possible paper topics will be distributed in due course.
